Bukit Cerakah

Bukit Cerakah? Bukit Pertanian Shah Alam? Bukit Cahaya Seri Alam? A few different names for a single recreational park. A fun place and easy to go. I just drove my car on the federal highway (from puchong), took exit at the toll batu tiga, next exit at the persiaran kayangan, went straight on the persiaran kayangan, and after the second roundabout, could see the signboards to bkt pertanian shah alam already...paid car entry fee for RM1 then entry fee for RM3/adult...then, nah, i had fun.

My 1st aim...to bike around the area. The first rental hour cost around RM4 and every next hour cost about RM2...which is not very expensive isn't? The next 2 hours after biking non-stop, i felt nothing. But once after i stopped to drink and eat my sandwich, felt like "oh..no...not gonna bike after this"...semput...so, that's the end of my biking trip.

But fortunately I biked towards the "taman kaktus" and other tamans first (taman ciku/ taman durian etc). This is because no bus is provided to go to these areas. After i returned the bike, my sister and i took a bus (free) to the other side of the park (tmn haiwan, rumah iklim, sawah padi).

In all, bukit cerakah is a fun place to go. Go! Bring ur family and friends there!

Welcome to Surabaya

We departed from Kuala Lumpur in the afternoon of April 9, 2008. After about two hours flight, we arrived in Surabaya, Indonesia at around 6:00pm in Surabaya time, which was about 5:00pm in Malaysian time. The sky was getting dark and the night air felt very cooling.

Air Asia's round trip tickets cost me about RM200. The flight was okay. A bit hectic but... okay. People started to stand up to open the overhead compartment once the flight touch the ground....although there was no indication yet to unfasten their seatbelt!!!!....
hehehehe..fortunately, reminders were given to calm them down...

hehehe...macam-macam ajerlah....

Puncak Marina Kondominium

During our five days in Surabaya, we stayed in 3 rooms-2 bathrooms apartment in Puncak Marina Kondominium. I would recommend this apartment. Excellent condition - fully furnished, with wide screen TV, cable channels with AXN channel lagi, fully equipped kitchen (with refrigerator, bowls, plate, forks, and spoon). The price is also considerably cheap. It cost 400,000 rupiah per night (RM145). If you travel in a big group, staying in an apartment will be a good choice. I basically have to pay only RM16 per day.
The McDonald, Plaza marina, taxi stand, and food stalls are all in a walking distance (~5minutes walking). The condition is just too good for the given price.

1. Surabaya monument

Surabaya comes from the words "sura" and "baya". "sura" or "suro" means "shark" and "baya" or "boyo" refers to "buaya" or "crocodile". It is believed that Surabaya gets its name from the big fight between a giant white shark and a giant white crocodile, who fought each other in order to gain the title of "the strongest and most powerful animal". This monument is located just in front of the Bun Bin. Hmmm, anyone can guest what does BunBin stand for? hehehe...BunBin stands for Kebun Binatang actually...(sounds familiar?, it is a zoo... )

2. Mirota

Mirota is a big plaza that sells batik, handicraft, and antique stuffs. Items are on "pass" price (no bargain).

3. Pasar Turi and Jambatan Merah Plaza(JMP)
Pasar Turi and JMP are some of the good places to empty your wallet in Surabaya. They are more "mesra rakyat" and their prices are more negotiable. Good places to find telkung, batik, scarves.

Baju batik, batik lepas, kain batik....beli beli jangan tak beli

hair accessories, bracelets, necklaces...sold in bundles.

Depending on the materials and design, one adult telkung might cost between 60,000 rupiah (RM21) to 200,000 rupiah (RM72.00). But when looking for a telkung, check for the size because most Surabaya people are slightly smaller than malaysia people:->

4. Intako in Sidoarjo.

Looking for cheap, leather or fabric handbags, shoes or travelling bags?? then Intako will be the right place to look for.

However, I personally found that the surrounding shops to be more interesting....it just that the shopkeepers were more friendly and the prices were much better. . The more you buy, the better the price will be.

    located in sidoarjo...

(penat nampaknyer...kak camy and her sister)

5. House of Sampoerna, Surabaya

It is located very close to JMP.House of Sampoerna is a cigarette museum which holds the story of cigarette from the past till the present. The is no entrance fees and if you are lucky enough, you can see how cigarette is manufactured

    Many types of casing

bapak, mau beli rokoknya?? Mari-mari beli di kedai saya....semua pun ada...

It is just so unique!!....

"Pasar Turi buka kembali"
(wikipedia)

despite of the damages caused by the fire, people still sell their items in the old pasar turi

Part 3: KLCC

After dinner at the little penang cafe in klcc, we took our time to relax. After a long day of walking and touring around kl and selangor area, it felt very rewarding and relaxing to just sit down and chat outside the klcc...
